The California State Capitol sits at 1315 10th Street in downtown Sacramento, serving as the seat of California government and housing both the legislative chambers and the Governor's office. The building dates back approximately 150 years and is managed by California State Parks, which operates the Capitol Museum offering free admission to the public.
The Capitol offers eight public tours daily, led by guides who walk visitors through the building's historic rooms recreated to match their appearance in the early twentieth century. Capitol Park surrounds the building with seasonal events and outdoor gathering space. The museum maintains the restored offices and chambers, including the Senate and Assembly legislative spaces, allowing visitors to experience the working heart of California's government.
